“No matter how difficult the past, you can always begin again today,”-Jack Kornfield
Engaging in psychotherapy is a collaborative process between the psychotherapist and client(s). The most important factor when considering a psychotherapist is whether it's a good fit. I always encourage my clients to try out a psychotherapist for a few sessions. It's important that you, as the client feel a connection with and trust the psychotherapist you are working with. There are many different types of psychotherapist and the right fit is often a combination of factors including personality, style, approach, orientation, and technique. It's important to trust yourself about whether a psychotherapist feels right to you. I am always happy to provide referrals if someone feels they are not a good fit for working with me. Psychotherapy can help with a wide range of life struggles from the more intense types of mental health problems like trauma and depression to more existential challenges.
My approach is to support my clients in feeling empowered and building from their strengths, recognizing we all have our own inner wisdom and sometimes that wisdom is hard to access. Psychotherapy can help uncover and build trust in a person's inner wisdom and innate ability to heal. I often think of myself as a guide helping my client's uncover what innately exists within them.
